Is it necessary to run a firewall under a Vm? Currently I'm running Windows Server 2003 under Virtualbox on Ubuntu with Comodo Internet Security. I found the firewall to be blocking my connection the majority of the time. Is this needed or is the connection going to be filtered through the hosts firewall? Also is an antivirus even necessary in the Vm?

Maintain at least two email addresses. Use your private

address only for personal correspondence, and another address for

registering on public forums, in chat rooms, to subscribe to mailing

lists etc.

Your private address should be difficult to guess.

Spammers use combinations of obvious names, words and numbers to build

lists of possible addresses. Your private address should not simply be

It seems like a new spam bot is currently being developed. Few days ago it was posted a pretty good analysis of a relatively simple spam bot, which Trend Micro detects as TROJ_PROXY.AIF.

This spam bot is quite straightforward. On execution the trojan

(TROJ_PROXY.AIF) issues a DNS query to a single domain in order to

obtain an IP address in order to connects to a C&C (Command and Control ). The C&C traffic is in plain text and one can easily identify how the C&C works.

Review by MS-MVP Donna Buenaventura

Trojan Remover aids in the removal of Malware - Trojan Horses, Worms, Adware, Spyware - when standard anti-virus software either fails to detect them or fails to effectively eliminate them. Standard antivirus programs are good at detecting this Malware, but not always good at effectively removing it.

Trojan Remover is designed to work on Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7. The program is not compatible with any 64bit version of Windows. ...

    * Malware isn’t going away any time soon. Especially when it became evident that money, lots of money can be made from its use.

    * Since all anti-malware applications are reactionary, they are destined to fail.

    * Developers who create operating system and application software need to show zero tolerance for software vulnerabilities.

    * Everyone who uses computers needs to take more ownership in learning how to react to the ever-changing malware environment in.

Think of biological viruses, and how they are nasty and keep your body functioning odd for several days. It often requires something powerful to get rid of it.

That is the case in computer viruses. They continue to plague you until you get something powerful to get rid of it!

How did you get infected?

File sharing. Peer-to-peer networks.

Bad websites.

Opening SPAM email and emails attachments.

Downloading free games, warez, toolbars, videos, and bad software.
