1 Are P2P programs bad? on Sat Sep 12, 2009 4:26 pm

The rise of P2P networking such as Limewire, Frostwire, Gnutella, uTorrent, BearShare, Kazaa, and many more -- have spawned off great popularity...and great infection.

With the popularity of P2P so high, it causes too many problems that can easily be avoided.

What is so bad? Viruses, trojans, spyware, and much more badware. They are distributed in at least 60% of the files throughout the network, and makes P2P the biggest source of getting infected, followed by drive-by downloads and botnets.

Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

I would strongly recommend that you uninstall them, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove these programs, you can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs. (Vista or 7: Control Panel > Programs (Uninstall a Program)).
