What format is the document?
E.g. .txt,WPS, HTML, XHTML or something different?

Right click on the document icon in the folder location and have a look in Properties to find out.

Open Wordpad, type in some random text in a new document.

Go to File, Save As, name it TEST.txt and save to your desktop, Click on save.

Close Wordpad, locate the saved file on your desktop, right click, go to Open with and select Worpad.

Does it now display how you saved it?
