Microsoft has lost their appeal against the Microsoft Word i4i case, where Microsoft was caught using "custom XML" in their software. The court issued that Microsoft stop selling Microsoft Office 2007 with Word in it.

Microsoft's attempt to appeal the injunction was denied today by the Federal Court and will place a full ban on Microsoft selling Microsoft Office 2007 with the unlicensed code in it. Microsoft issued a press release statement today, discussing the denial of appeal by the Federal Court.

Bad news for Microsoft but it won't take them long to change the code and then sales can start again.

Even if it is ripped code. Lol. Microsoft takes shortcuts often. That is how they seem to stay on top.

Open Office ftw!

I'm not worried. I have Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 and Windows 7 Ultimate. I got both for discounts, lol. Might as well keep using Word.

Open Office is great. I used it before I got Office 2007.

Everyone takes shortcuts, it'll all just depends on if you get caught.

It also takes a set of 'big ones' to take on someone like Microsoft, Microsoft probably thought they wouldn't be challenged over the ripped code because of how big they are - lesson learnt.

Kick a giant in the kneecaps and they fall to 1 knee, not so tall then are they?

That would be why the Google vs Bing vs Yahoo battle is so interesting.
