1 Missing RAID driver/BSOD on Thu Jan 14, 2010 10:30 am

I think I may have removed something that I should not have. Not sure how it happened.....

I've been getting the blue screen for a while now on my desktop. Today, I got it with the Microsoft message stating that my RAID driver is missing. It gave me directions on how to go to the website and download it. I tried that, and after trying to install, my computer stated that my system doesn't meet the requirements. This blue screen happened when I was scanning with MBAM. As soon as it got to the file or program "zpeng25.dll", it gave the blue screen error message about dumping memory.

Thanks for your help !

Hey,

  • Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System
  • Go to Advanced
  • Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...
  • Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"

When you next get the the BSOD, write down all of the long numbers, the description that's in all CAPS with underscores between the words, and any file names that may be mentioned.

Use the following guide from BleepingComputer.com to pull an error report from the Event
Viewer.

Post the following here when you have them.

Hello, this is part of one that I got back in September.... I know it won't help completely, but maybe it will give an idea.

I found my notes on the error/blue screen I got back in Sept. That is when I started having problems regularly. I'll try to find what I wrote down the other day when I received the blue screen. Meanwhile:

I figured out the way to save the error logs. I saved both the ones related to the applications and the system. I could not find the blue screen error associated with today. Do you want me to post both logs here? Should I copy/paste or is there a way I can attach them ?

Hi TriciaM.

We need to see a little deeper:
Please download the latest version of Kaspersky GetSystemInfo (GSI) from Kaspersky.fr and save it to your Desktop.
  • Please close all other applications running on your system.
  • Please double click GetSystemInfo.exe to open it.
  • Click the Settings button.
  • Set it to Maximum
  • IMPORTANT! Then please click Customize - choose Driver / Ports tab and
  • Uncheck Scan Ports.
  • Click Create Report to run it.
  • It will create a zip folder called GetSystemInfo_XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.zip on your Desktop. Please upload the folder to Kaspersky GSI Parser and click the Submit button.

Please copy and paste the url of the GSI Parser report (not the log) in your next reply.

-----
AND THEN
-----

Download WhoCrashed from here
This program checks for any drivers which may have been causing your computer to crash....

Click on the file you just downloaded and run it.
Put a tick in Accept then click on Next
Put a tick in the Don't create a start menu folder then click Next
Put a tick in Create a Desktop Icon then click on Install and make sure there is a tick in Launch Whocrashed before clicking Finish
Click Analyze
It will want to download the Debugger and install it Say Yes

WhoCrashed will create report but you have to scroll down to see it
Copy and paste it into your next reply along with the Kaspersky GSI log.

I tried to figure out how to upload the folder to the parser, but I could find only a way to GET the parser. When I chose that option (from clicking on the link in your post that says "Kapersky GSI parser" ), it told me I already had it. I have the zipped and unzipped folder (report) on my desktop. Can you tell me where to go from there ? Thanks !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is really responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

I read that klif.sys is a threat ? (but I also read that it is part of other anti-virus, scanners, etc.) If it helps, I've never had Kapersky installed before....

I'm in the process of reading stop BSODs 101 right now. I thought I read it before, but some of it does not look familiar to me. I'll see if I can provide more info once I finish reading it.

Alright, this may or may not help.

When I restarted the computer, I hit F8 when it was restarting. I got a screen that said the following :

Phoenix Rom BIOS Plus Version 1.10 A03.

Dell System Dimension 8400.

BIOS Version A03.

Keyboard Failure

Drive 1 not found: Serial ATA, SATA 1
Drive 2 not found: Serial ATA, SATA 2
Drive 3 not found: Serial ATA, SATA 3

Strike F1 to continue. F2 to run setup utility.

Is this indicating that I need to update a driver for my keyboard ? ( I have no idea what that means, by the way.....)

Thanks !
