You may of heard people referring to HijackThis and HijackThis Logs.....so, what is HijackThis?

HijackThis, sometimes abbreviated as HJT, is a spyware-removal tool for Microsoft Windows originally created by Merijn Bellekom. The program is notable for taking a different approach to detecting malware - rather than relying on a database of known spyware, it scans a user's computer, creating a list of differences from known spyware-free areas and allows the user to decide what from the list is to be removed.

HijackThis is used primarily for diagnosis of spyware, as improper use of its removal facilities can cause significant software damage to a computer.

HijackThis generate's a plain text log detailing all entries it finds, and most entries can be removed or disabled by HijackThis. Most of the log entries are required to run a computer and removing essential ones can potentially cause cause damage such as minor loss of Internet connectivity or major problems with your operating system which could preventing the computer from starting. Inexperienced users are often advised to exercise caution, or to seek help when using HijackThis as it is not able to discriminate between legitimate and unwanted items.

If you do not have advanced knowledge about computers or training in malware investigation, you should NOT fix anything with these analyzers without consulting a expert as to what to fix. Using this tool incorrectly could adversely impact your system.
