Reading many blogs and seeing many news stories about Google broadband, we decided to compile the details in our own story.
What Google is planning to do is set up a fiber optic network, which will have speed of one (1) Gigabit-per-second (GBpS). This is planned to create a stirring availability to 500,000 homes.
Its planned hotshot competition, Google wants to compete with other broadband providers offering slower speeds. Why do this? To make search faster and lighten the load for YouTube videos.
Speculations and other input says that the impact will depend on how many homes that access would be provided by Google.
Google is offering its beta service for free: http://www.google.com/tisp/
And now the video explaining the fiber optics:
Thanks Google!
