Hi
I have two undeletable folders in windows 7 64 bit that just won't go away. I followed your tutorial but I get the same thing as when I try in explorer. As in, a message that windows can't find the file.....Now, I am looking right at the folder that doesn't exist. I can even create another folder with the same name in the same place and put files in it, and they appear in the undeletable folder as well. Shocked
As these "invisible" folders seem to be what is stopping me using two of my expensive carto exploreur cds I really would like to get shot of them. I have tried Lockhunter on them, it doesn't work either. Any ideas please?

Please download and install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from Malwarebytes.org.
Alternate link: BleepingComputer.com.
(Note: if you already have the program installed, just follow the directions. No need to re-download or re-install!)

Please open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and click More Tools tab. Under FileASSASSIN, click Run Tool.

Browse for each file that is hard to delete.

The FileASSASSIN will then delete the file, or ask you to reboot your computer in order to delete it. Please allow it to reboot, if necessary.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I downloaded anti-malware and did as instructed. Maybe I wasn't clear in my first post, but it is actually the folder that won't delete, and it seems fileASSASIN will only deal with files, one at a time.
This is the screen shot of what I get when I try to delete the folders in question

Please download the latest version of Kaspersky GetSystemInfo (GSI) from Kaspersky.fr and save it to your Desktop.
  • Please close all other applications running on your system.
  • Please double click GetSystemInfo.exe to open it.
  • Click the Settings button.
  • Set it to Maximum
  • IMPORTANT! Then please click Customize - choose Driver / Ports tab and
  • Uncheck Scan Ports.
  • Click Create Report to run it.
  • It will create a zip folder called GetSystemInfo_XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.zip on your Desktop. Please upload the folder to Kaspersky GSI Parser and click the Submit button.

Please copy and paste the url of the GSI Parser report (not the log) in your next reply.

No, they appeared when I installed carto Exploreur. They are actually, or should be, legitimate map files with a .byo extension, and all the other cds (two per county) installed and work perfectly. Just these two seemed to install, didn't appear as visible maps on the programme, but wouldn't delete either. Carto Exploreur is from the IGN France, it is a proprietary format which will only work with the bayo software, although it can by a long and tedious process be ripped to .map files to use with OZi explorer. (needs bayozie and cartonaze, and it is one file at a time, forty or so files per cd) and I have had a long and fruitless exchange of messages with bayo tec support which has resulted in them giving up. They worked fine on my old computer under vista, and I still have the original cds for the program install and map files. The problem seems to me as a non-techy, that these two folders are stopping the program from seeing the cd, so I can't transfer the files to hd.
