How to uninstall or change a program in Vista and 7

This is a tutorial to show you how to uninstall or change a program in Windows Vista or Windows 7.

To get there, do one of two methods.
  • Click Start then Computer. Then, click the button "Uninstall or change a program."
  • Click Start > Control Panel. Then, click on Programs, or Programs and Features.

If the program to uninstall is not listed, then it may not be compatible with Windows Vista or 7. To remove the program, check the information that came with the program or see if the uninstaller is listed in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) folder.

PROCESS

  1. Enter the programs, see the Tip above.
  2. The options will be either Uninstall, Change, Repair, or a combination of these. A program may not have all the options available for it. Choose whichever is needed to modify the program.
  3. It may ask you to confirm the removal, if you choose to uninstall. Follow the prompts. When it finishes, uninstall complete. If you decided to change the program, it will confirm the changes are complete. If you decided to repair, it will confirm the changes are complete.

FULLY REMOVE A PROGRAM
  1. Uninstall the program as noted above.
  2. Navigate to your Program Files folder. Usually at C:\Program Files. If you cannot find the folder, then place the following in to the address bar exactly: %programfiles%
  3. Find the folder inside the Program Files folder, that corresponds to the name of the program you wish to fully remove. Right-click on that folder and click Delete.
  4. If you get an Access Denied error:
    Access Denied!
Take Ownership of the folder, then try the deletion again.

If you have any trouble doing the process above, feel free to post below and ask for help.
