The only question that I have now is does Spyware blaster conflict with Mcafee or AVG(when I download because of Mcafee expiring)?

....And is my computer totally virus free and clean ?

No conflicts of SpywareBlaster. It does not work actively, so there is no way for it to conflict, luckily. It just adds an extra layer of protection.

Yes, your computer is clean. Smile

For the hpHosts site, that loads when it wants to. The webmaster of it keeps having server issues. If you cannot get it to load now, then probably try later.

Hello,

Sorry to keep having to bug you.

I've got a bit of a concern I was browsing "http://hosts-file.net/" and my friend clicked the database tab and clicked on "xtyxain.info" or "xjuguxu.info", whilst I was out of the room but the page didn't load fully, so Im not sure if my computer has been infected again, Im running malwarebytes now to fiind out.

And also...

I've managed to navigate myself to this site "http://hosts-file.net/?s=Browse&f=X" for the host file but this is the part where im struggling what do I exactly download? under the files section there is a file named "hpHosts-Setup-Win32.exe (0.99MB)" should I download that..?

Thank you very much

hpHosts-Setup-Win32.exe

That should be fine. Smile

==========

Those sites seem to both be distributing browser exploits. If you had an out of date plugin (which you don't, because I would have had you update them), then the exploit would have installed malware by taking advantage of a weakness. But, since your plugins are up-to-date, you should be safe.

If you would like, do a quick/smart scan with McAfee or any other antivirus you might have installed (but not active), and post the results, if available.

Thats very relieving.

Ok, I've installed hpHosts-Setup-Win32.exe at the end of the installation it asks me "diasable windows dns client (recommended)" should I tick that or not?

What do you mean by "(but not active)" in your above reply? ^^^^

Thanks

No. Wink

Do you still have AVG or Microsoft Security Essentials installed, but not on active guard?

If so, a quick scan from either one of them will pick up any known malware.

I understand what you mean now and will run a quick scan with Microsoft Security Essentials because it is not protecting my computer as you requested.

Hello,

My computer was running slow yesterday evening and today when I started it normally it would not connect to the internet and was unable to access Control Panel\Network and Sharing Center because it kept "not responding" so I started it in safe mode with networking and it would still not connect and I went to Control Panel\Network and Sharing Center and discovered that some settings had been changed, which were that network discovery and file sharing was off and password protected sharing was on. So the only thing that I changed was that I set network discovery to custom. The curious thing is that why did the settings change and why did Control Panel\Network and Sharing Center stop responding every time I opened it. Could you please tell me how the settings should be because I don't really know.

Thanks

Are you on a home network (connected wirelessly) or directly connected to the Internet?
