Hello,

I just installed the hostfile and restarted the system and the CPU hasn't been below 50% and randomly climbs upto 100% and then back to 51,52,53% and this when the computer starts up but after 5-10mins the CPU does not go below 50% and this is only with internet explorer running;this is a problem because before installing the hostfile the CPU was approximately 10-30%.

Should I uninstall the hostfile?

Thanks

Yeah.

Don't worry about the host file. It is added security, but your antivirus should guard it anyway.

Ok, never mind about that 'glitch' because I did a recommended restore and the computer seems to be running fine.

So theres no real need for the hostfile right?

Thank you very much Smile Razz

Hello,

Ok I haven't installed the hostfile again.

Anyway I was just using Mcafee to see if there were any viruses detected in the 'restore' section>files and it had something called "w32/conficker.worm(virus)"; I clicked the 'send to Mcafee' button and then removed it.

Should I take other action and should I be worried?

Thanks

Ok. Well just stay out of bad websites, and be smart about browsing.

From time to time, scan with MBAM to make sure you stay clean. There does not appear to be anything serious. Thumb up

Ok I do try to put safe surfing into action but im not sure at all how the trojan got there. Shocked

I usually do a full scan every week and daily do a qucik scan to maintain the computer clean of viruses.

One last question is that would you recommend using AVG 9 free for my computer or should I use something else; im not totally satisfied with Mcafee?

Thanks Very Happy Smile
