A research firm this week said Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 will outsell Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo Co.’s Wii in lifetime sales.

The Strategy Analytics Connected Home Devices firm this week predicted the PS3 will hold lifetime sales of 127 million units compared to 103 million for Wii.

The firm said buyers will continue to see demand years after the Xbox 360 and Wii are replaced.

It did not estimate lifetime sales for the Xbox 360, which currently holds as the No. 2 console in global sales.

“Nintendo has done a great job with the Wii in bringing console games to new audiences,” said SACHD principal analyst David Mercer.
