1 Need help to recover Gateway Profile 5.5 on Fri Jan 28, 2011 3:22 pm

I could sure use someone's help with my problem here.

I have a friend that has a Gateway Profile 5.5 desktop (all-in-one) computer. I done some searching around and found out that I should use F11 to start the recovery. NO LUCK! It just continues with the boot-up.

Can anyone give me an idea of how to get to System Recovery??? I would sure appreciate any help you could give me.

What problem is your friend having with this machine?

Have you tried to see if the machine will boot into safe mode? To do this:
Restart the computer and tap F8 before the windows logo, choose safe mode with networking.

My friend had a couple virus's on it and she just wanted the system put back to factory settings. Since I couldn't seem to do that, I did re-boot in Safe Mode with Networking and was able to download Malewarebytes and that did get rid of the virus's, I think.

I downloaded the free version of AVG because she didn't have any anti-virus on the system before. Now I keep getting pop-ups from AVG saying that there are infected files what should I do... I hate to give it back to them when it is doing this so often.

Anyway, if you can tell me another way to reset to factory settings, I would really appreciate it.

You could get help in removing the malware by starting a new post here The malware would be completely cleared when you are through.
I can not help where malware is involved since I am still in training.
There are a lot of awesome techs here!!
