Good morning, I turned on my desktop this morning and it can't get past a certain point. I get a blank desktop (background picture and screen saver work). I see many lines in the Processes tab in Task manager but no icons and no system tray. Same with safe mode. All I see there is "safe Mode" in the 4 corners of the screen and the Windows ID info across the top. I'm in distress. Please help.

Do you have your installation disk?
If so, you can do a repair.
Put the disk into the disk drive >> restart system>> press any key to boot from disk>> then choose R for repair.
