Be forewarned!! Holiday scams are going to boom this year more than ever. Here is the toplist of holiday scams to watch out for:
Online coupons: don't believe in coupons that don't come from a verified source, for instance, such as the official Walmart.com website, instead of "walmartcoupons.com".
Holiday screensavers are a common malware to watch out for. It is better to pick a screensaver from a good, trusted source: American Greetings.
Fake antivirus or hard drive diagnostic programs: only buy antivirus programs from trusted antivirus vendors.
Phony Facebook promotions: don't click links in Facebook that lead to external sites (no matter how cool it appears)!!
Mobile malware: get a good mobile antivirus to protect your mobile device.
- Holiday phishing/email hoaxes
- "UPS packages", "Rejected ACH transactions", and "RuneScape Account Notice" are just a few common scams.
- Fake advertising, e.g. SALE DISCOUNT, FREE JEWELRY, etc.
