As the iPad and other tablets and e-readers get stuck in, PCs are getting more pushed out.
However, there is no evidence that PC owners have declined.
Now, these tablets do not usually run software from Microsoft, which has many people wondering about the future performance of Microsoft. Google and Apple have the credit of their software running hardcoded in tablet devices. But, who's to say Microsoft is backing down from building tablet software? Windows 8 is prospectively the next wonderful thing in tablets!!
However, PC users are going nowhere. Very few PC users are interested in tablets, at least to a degree of quitting the use of PCs.
Whether or not we agree with Ray Ozzie, former Microsoft exec., this pressure put on the tech communities is mounting.

We must admit: technology is changing ten times faster than it was two years ago!
Companies are much more competitive, and consumer confidence is sky-high on technology products, or 'the new thing'!
