How to re-enable the hibernate option in the start menu of Windows Vista

Guide Overview

The purpose of this guide is to teach you how to re-enable the hibernate option in the Windows Vista start menu. The hibernate option may not show up in the start menu if the size of your hibernate files decreased, or if you may have disabled it.

Instructions

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box enter CMD . You will see Command Prompt appear on your menu, please right-click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run As Administrator". If you are prompted to enter Administrator password, please enter the password and continue.

  2. Now provide any one of the following two commands:
    Code:
    powercfg /hibernate on
    powercfg -h on

  3. Exit command prompt and look in the start menu to see the Hibernate option.
