Why Windows takes so long to shut down!
Windows is very complex and must tell every application in Windows that it is shutting down Windows. Some applications may say No when asked to shutdown, which in turn aborts the shutdown.
To force quit these applications, press the Start Menu Shutdown button again, and Windows will manually end programs.
Also, make sure your hardware drivers are up to date. Some hardware does not handle fast shutdown. Hardware updates may be a good solution!
