Tips on not getting infected in the future
- Do not open email attachments that end with a .exe, .com, .bat, or .pif unless you know for sure they are clean!
- If you are browsing the Internet and a popup appears saying that you are infected, ignore it!
- Stop going to adult sites. It does not matter if this bothers you, just do it!
- When a popup appears, always click the [X] button, never ever click the OK button! Don't click on links in Instant Messenging posts, either.
- Stay away from warez, crack sites, and rom sites. They are all bad news and copyright fraudulent material. Bootleg artists equip these products with some viruses and tracking tools.
- When downloading a P2P file, such as music or video, check the download folder. In the download folder, you see the files listed--make sure you scan these items for malware before continuing.
- When downloading software, read the End-User License Agreement (EULA), before continuing. You can spot tactics of bad software in these agreements.
- Get good, trusted security products. Get a good firewall, antivirus, and antispyware. Products listing and rating forum Make sure they are always up to date!
- Scan for vulnerabilities online weekly
- Disable Autoplay

- Keep up on Security news and updates
- Check the Calendar of Security Updates
- Visit Microsoft Windows Update often
